Introduction of a Caveman to a Computeran
It goes without saying that a “computer” is one of the most important discoveries ever made by mankind. I have had the privilege of actually owning one ever since I can remember, and my first encounter with it resulted in my descent into becoming a computer addict. I was introduced to the world of computers by my uncle who was a computer addict back in the day and the very reason why I got addicted to computers. He had his very own gaming laptop and a whole lot of different games that piqued my interest.
Since I loved watching television and movies as a child, seeing these weird but intriguing thingamajigs on a screen controlled by my uncle, I was amazed by these “digital events” unfolding before my very eyes because it was something that I had never seen before — characters on a screen that people can command to do whatever the person controlling wants them to do. As a child, I instantly fell in love with computers because I was so amused by this brand-new tech. I would spend hours and hours on end playing games like Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft III, Starcraft, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and DotA.
Just like any other child, I begged my parents to buy me a laptop, which they refused to do because they were not big on these new devices since they considered computers as just another nonessential expense. But luckily, my uncle was kind enough to give me his gaming laptop. I got addicted to the computer and fast forward into the future, still strongly addicted to computers and gaming.
Thanks to the rapid technological advancement of computers in the 2000s, computers set the foundation for the digital age of society nowadays, becoming essential in our everyday lives.
